Perspective is Everything

We’ve turned the page to September.  Labor Day has come and gone.  Pumpkin everything has reached store shelves.  Eventually these 90* days will end soon.  Right?!?!

I refuse to enjoy anything pumpkin until a chill has reached the air and I’m not still sporting my summer wardrobe.  But, in joining the pumpkin craze, I decided to create and post the below image on Facebook the other day:

Goodbye PSL Hello BC Essentials

The funny thing about my post is that while it spurred a lot of interest and conversation from friends, existing clients, and new clients, my favorite part is nestled in the thoughts that came to not only my mind, but the minds of my friends. Thoughts that had nothing to do with pumpkin spice lattes or skincare. #LoveThat

I had a really great conversation with a friend, and wanted to share the general idea of it.  Let’s break it down:

How many times do we complete small tasks without looking at the bigger picture?

Using the Pumpkin Spice Latte / Beautycounter image as an example, if you purchase a Pumpkin Spice Latte daily, your purchase is just a $5 visit to the coffee shop.  BUT if you only have $50 to spend, will you still purchase 10 Pumpkin Spice Latte’s?  Or will you buy a latte or two and then spend the remaining $40 on something else?  Does that make sense?  It’s all about perspective.

You most likely never thought about spending $50 (which in this example would be 10 PSL’s) but when you ADD the tasks of EACH DAY, you realize the VALUE.  It’s all about perspective.

$5 is “minimal” but $50 is “huge”.

For this particular friend, it was the monotony of her daily routine.  But if we decided to envision the future, everything she does each day is preparing her children for future independence and success.  The day to day ($5) meant nothing, but the week ($50) meant everything.

After we had this really in-depth life conversation, she asked me to forgo her daily Pumpkin Spice Latte purchase and “spend” $150 for her wisely (based on her interests).  Since so many people are visual learners, I wanted to pass along what we came up with, because as we’ve learned, perspective is everything.

So there it is.  A few options for under $150 (a month of Pumpkin Spice Latte’s) for products that are not only safe, effective, and high performing.  BUT products that are going to last for at least 6 months!  That’s a win win folks…and a worthwhile investment! 🙂
